Our story
A small studio with a big love of colour
Fernleigh opened on Market Row in 2019, in an old draper's shop with tall windows and very good light.

Imogen trained in London and spent twelve years colouring hair in busy city salons. She loved the work, but not the rush. Too many appointments were squeezed into too little time, and colour suffers when it's hurried.
So she came home to Kestlebury and opened somewhere calmer. Fernleigh has three chairs, one treatment room and a kettle that's always on. Appointments are booked with time to spare, so nobody is ever watching the clock.
“Colour suffers when it's hurried. So we never hurry it.”
We're known for colour that suits real life: blondes that grow out softly, grey blending that doesn't need touching up every month, and warm brunettes with a bit of glow. Hattie and Bea joined in 2021, bringing curly cuts, brows, lashes and nails.
Most of our clients have been with us for years. We'd love you to be one of them.

How we look after you
Time to get it right
We book generous appointments, so there's always time to talk, check and adjust.
Honest advice
If a look won't suit your hair, or would cost a fortune to keep up, we'll tell you kindly and suggest something better.
Kind products
We use vegan colour and refillable aftercare where we can, and we recycle our foils and colour tubes.
